This photo shows the grotto at Lourdes. A statue of Mary is in the physical place on the grotto where the Blessed Mother appeared several times in 1858 to Bernadette Soubirous, a 14-year old girl who lived in the town of Lourdes. The waters of an underground spring at the grotto are believed to have special healing powers.
