St. Basil's Cathedral

8photo09

This photo shows the outside of St. Basil's Cathedral, a famous Moscow landmark located at one end of Red Square. St. Basil's is famous for its multi-colored onion-shaped domes, which can be seen in this photo. Built in the 1550's and not completed until 1670, the cathedral was desecrated by Napoleon's cavalry who used it as a stable during the French invasion of Russia in 1812.
