7photo08

This photo shows one of the buildings in the complex of prisons called the Tower of London. The original Tower, a central portion of the complex, was a fortress before it gained notoriety as a prison and place of execution. St. Thomas More, the Lord Chancellor of England under King Henry VIII, was imprisoned in the Tower before his execution in 1535. He was canonized in 1935 and his feast day is June 22nd.
