The Western Wall

4photo03

The most sacred Jewish site in modern day Jerusalem, the western wall of the Temple mountain (known as the "wailing wall") is a place of prayer and petition for Jews. There are separate prayer areas for men and women. It is called the "wailing wall" since it, along with the southwestern wall, is all that remains of the Jewish Temple enclosure following the destruction of the City by Titus in 70 A.D.
