Located in Nazareth, the Basilica of the Annunciation is the largest church in the Middle East. It is built over the grotto where tradition holds that the Annunciation occurred. The Basilica, rebuilt in 1967, is built over a lower church (built in 1730) and the remains of Byzantine and Crusader churches.
